I brought my husband here for a quiet birthday lunch. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s a vibe. Very clean with warm decor. The staff here is very friendly and they don’t mind assisting you even if they’re not your actual server, which was a plus. We started with the sloppy Joe fries, which I demolished. My husband had steak and some sides that I didn’t get to try, but I ordered the hot honey chicken with collard greens and grits. It was delicious! The chicken was seasoned very well and the entire dish was flavorful. I also ordered a side of brussel sprouts and they were very tasty with the added bacon. The only issue we faced was our waitresses’ forgetfulness. She offered us a taste of the soup of the day, and we said we would like to try it. When she returned, she had forgotten. After we finally tried it, we actually ordered it...but I assume she forgot again because we never received it, which was kind of weird considering there were only 3 patrons at the time. Otherwise, it was a good visit, and I recommend it. I’ll return again some day.

The only bad thing was that the wait was 15-20 min and we waited and hour and 15 min. when I asked what the holdup was, the hostess told me they make reservations a priority over walk-ins. If she would have told us to make a reservation, we would have done that or if they told us the weight would’ve been longer we would have left. other than that, the food and drinks were amazing. The server was nice even though she disappeared for a bit, but I’m guessing she was super busy. She apologized for disappearing. Steak was cooked to perfection as well as the grouper and brussel sprouts. The strawberry smash drink is my new favorite.

We had the most delicious dinner and fabulous service last night! We usually don’t go out on Valentine’s Day because of the crowds but the staff and management did an amazing job on such a busy night! We were seated before our reservation time, got our drinks, appetizer and food very quickly. It made a wonderful night even better!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, and it ended up being one of the best meals I’ve ever had! Everything was incredibly delicious & the service was impeccable. My girlfriend even started stealing stuff off my plate & ended up drinking more of my own drink cause she enjoyed it so much. Already can’t wait to come back & travel back to enjoy more 1885!

Service was great. The food was good but not great. The fried okra could have been cooked a little longer. The hot honey fried chicken needed more seasoning and was cooked too long which made it a little dry. The cream corn was not creamed but whole kernels. The corn bread muffins tasted as if they had actual corn kernels in the mix. The fish sandwich was good...especially the hoagie bread. We will return one day the food was just good nothing outstanding.

This was our first time. This restaurant is the bomb awesomeness. All the dishes we had is really good. Shrimp and grits and fried shrimp and hush puppies was really good!! Haley was a great server. Ask for her for a good server here!!! The cocktail drinks are top notch. This is nice to go out. Very good southern food!!

I’ve been craving to try this restaurant for awhile and man they did not let me down! I could eat here a couple times a week with there very diverse and full front to back menu options. Upon entering the restaurant i noticed it was very open and i could smell the food from the door. Now i did get to try a variety of food options and out of 6 or 7 items only one was my least favorite but my friend thoroughly enjoyed. We tried the scallops (absolutely my fav) ribs that fall of the bone crab cakes that were well seasoned empanadas (not my fav) the costal salad with the old bay ranch OMG super yummy and the shrimp etoufee that was surprisingly delicious!!! I’m coming back!!! To top it off the server was very attentive always refilling our water. Just a great experience all together!

Great food, good service, bustling atmosphere. We found some plastic in my collards, but we immediately informed the staff, and they apologized took the plate away immediately and made me a fresh entree that tasted just as good. The desserts were incredibly delicious!!!!! My husband is still raving about the cherry cobbler!
